Calliope Mission & Programs
Since 1976, Calliope has been a nonprofit educational and presenting organization that promotes and preserves traditional and contemporary folk music and its allied arts. Calliope programs are unique to western Pennsylvania.

  • Calliope Concerts - The best national and international folk music talent in a 600-seat concert hall.
  • Calliope School of Folk Music, Dance, and Crafts - Classes taught by the best folk artists in western Pennsylvania.
  • Calliope Outreach Programs
  • Summer Festivals - Calliope partners with other organizations in support of outdoor festivals, referring national and local talent, and presenting workshops and jam sessions.
  • Calliope Legends Concerts - Calliope collaborates with the First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh to present great music in a superb venue. The wonderful musicians in this series also lead workshops, sharing their musical expertise.
  • Calliope Folk Song Night - A monthly round-robin session for lovers of folk songs.
  • Calliope Songwriters Circle - A monthly gathering of local and regional songwriters.
  • The Threepenny Opry - Presents local artists on Friday & Saturday nights
  • Calliope Open Stage - Weekly opportunity for songwriters, solo, and duo artists to share their music
  • Country and Classic Blues Society - A gathering of acoustic blues enthusiasts.
